Video editing in Linux was never a simple matter, because of the lack of viable options and also because of the lack of mature software. While there have been few choices out there for editing family or weekend videos, Blender, which is primarily a 3D modeler and animation software with a video editing module built-in, has been around for quite some time for those who need more advanced features and are not daunted by the scary, complex, fully featured interface. Nonetheless, this is not to say that it can’t be used for quick video projects, but you might consider making videos more regularly to make the effort worth it.

Blogging?Recently laptops have been coming out with multi-touch scrolling and have been marketing it as new technology. The truth is, Macs and PCs with Synaptic touch pads already had this capability for years; it’s anything but new. The hardware was there, but Windows never really used it and you needed to install additional third-party software to use it.

All you Star Wars fans and gamers out there who played the first Force Unleashed game would probably already know the news–Force Unleashed 2 is coming out on October 26th! That’s barely 2 weeks from now, and I can’t wait! When the first Force Unleashed game came out, We got both the Wii and Xbox360 versions.

However, for some of you who found the first Force Unleashed game not to their satisfaction (most likely due to the Force Grip controls), you’ll be happy to know that the developers promised a better, improved system.

Pre-order your copy now! Because we all know it’s much cooler to get stuff before the rest of the normal people.

Update: The collector’s edition of the game will allow you to play as the original Starkiller (in the early drafts of the original Star Wars trilogy), but Play-Asia isn’t offering it just yet. I’ll keep you posted.

For those of you who’ve been living under a rock, some videos and trailers after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

The new Metroid game for the Wii is coming out very nicely. A Developer’s Diary video was released recently for the game and I was able to watch it in GameTrailers (subscribed through Miro). The bad news is, it’s all in Japanese. The good news is, I know a bit of Japanese.:)

For those of you who can understand it, I recommend that you watch it. And even if you don’t, it’s still pretty. Video  after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

How lame is that? I’ve been so busy that I didn’t even know that a successor to the DS was unveiled at E3 almost a month ago! And it wasn’t even through some tech/gaming news site either. I only learned about it while I was reading a strip from Ctrl + Alt + Del.

Anyway, check out the CAD strip below.

Please vote for me and give me 5 stars!

Please vote for me and give me 5 stars!

I’m competing to get into the top 11 out of among around 40,000 applicants, who are without doubt mass spamming all their friends, their enemies, and their wonderful blog readers.;) Those 11 lucky people will get to work at the Great Barrier Reef as caretakers of the environment. Ten (10) will be picked by Tourism Queensland and one who gets the most votes on-line will become the 11th. Considering that I had  3 days to deadline when I learned about this, I think I made a pretty decent video application with the help of my ever-supportive girlfriend, and I was able to submit it just in time.

Here’s the link: CLICK HERE TO VOTE

I’m not sure what those Tourism Queensland people are looking for, and I’m hoping that my video turns out better than the rest, but I prefer having an insurance policy and that’s where you guys come in! I need you all to go check out my video (not necessarily to view nor critique it) and give me 5 stars, and to also tell your friends about me! Come on people, unless you’re one of the applicants, it wouldn’t do you any harm to give me 5 stars (application period is over anyway). Pretty please begging on my knees!

Here’s the link again just to be sure: CLICK HERE TO VOTE

Note: Their system seems to be tracking by IP. So if you are unable to vote, please vote for me from your house, your office, your nearest Starbucks/Krispy Kreme/Coffee Bean,  or better yet all of ‘em. Just not all of you from the same place, it won’t work. And tell your friends too! Also, I’m not sure but I think they reset the logging daily, so you can vote everyday!

Sorry, but I just had to write something about this. F4 (of Meteor Garden fame) has come out with a new commercial promoting tourism in Taiwan. I was laughing my ass off at Jerry Yan’s seemingly inability to speak English. Either that, or he just didn’t know the script and the director just yelled, “Ah, forget it. That’s a wrap.”

Here’s the mumble mumble Taiwan video:

Bin Laden You know somethings terribly wrong when politicians start using names like “Bin Laden” as their political slogans for their campaign materials, As seen in this newspaper ad in a local newspaper. Ironically, the “A” in the Bin Laden acronym stands for “Advocate of Peace”……Right…don’t you worry, you have my vote.
