Ubuntu Game Discs
I made some ISOs of game compilations from the Ubuntu repositories. Why did I make them? So that you can hand it out to friends. Sometimes, having something actually physical is better to remind people that good games exist, instead of counting them to search through the haystack of games in the repositories. And by selecting a good few, well…
GameDisc01.iso – Made with AptOnCD. Has some problems.
GameDisc01b.iso – Made with AptOnCD. Might be better.
Hardy_Game_Disc_01.iso
The Hardy Game Disc contains the following games, each in their own directory along with their dependencies:
- Battle For Wesnoth
- Fish Fillets
- Frets On Fire
- Frozen Bubble
- Glest
- Globulation
- Neverball
- Pingus
- Sauerbraten
- TORCS
- Tremulous
- Virus Killer
Game suggestions for the Hardy Game Disc 02 are welcome. Also, I’ll be compiling a disc with games that are not in the repositories.
Why Make Game Discs?
Some people just don’t have the luxury of high-speed internet (think globally), thus have difficulty obtaining games from the repos. Another thing, there are just too many games in the repositories, but not all of them are mature enough. A lot of them are just stable, but not final releases, alpha releases, or just are not good.
By providing ISOs, someone with a high-speed internet and CD burner can burn multiple copies, for distribution to friends, much like how you would give away copies of Ubuntu.
